Helicopter

So Matt, our PC tech, recently bought some fun stuff online. He got some fire steel and an r/c helicopter. They both came today.

At first I thought the helicopter looked kind of cheap. It’s made of styrofoam-looking material, the blades are plastic, and it charges by a battery-filled base. Well, I’m ready to see it in action, so We charge it up, set it on the floor and pull the throttle. It makes a loud noise, the blades turn really fast, and the body spins a bit on the floor. It got off the ground maybe a centimetre. Then the batteries died.

The thing charges by plugging in an adapter from the base to the body of the chopper. It takes about two minutes to charge, so that’s not too bad. After the second charge, we put in back on the floor of our office and fire it up again. It rises to the level of about 30 centimeters and proceeds to crash into the wall. We then found out that there is not way of controlling it. The controller only had a trigger-throttle. On or off. No turning.

After some more experimentation, we came to the conclusion that it would work better outside. It did. We marched outside to the balcony right outside our office and let ‘er rip. It took off across the walkway to the adjacent building and went so high we almost lost it on the roof of the three story structure. The next flight started with a slight push from myself, and it caught a gust of wind mid-flight. Total flight distance of this run was over 40 metres. Here’s a rare photo of the flight crew.

After work, Becky, Sharon, and I decided to finally make it to the Old Spaghetti Factory. We did so. While we were waiting for our table, these two ladies came out wearing some rater interesting clothes. We took a photo of them and I’m now publishing it for the world to see. I love the internet.

After I had ordered my glorious mizithra, Sharon decided she would like some wine with dinner. Well, a while ago at the Olive Garden, she had sampled some red wine she liked and now noticed that the OSF carried it, so she ordered a bottle. When it came, the waitress had no need to uncork it, because it had a screw-top. Yup. Wine with a screw-top. Now, it still came in a bottle, so we were debated on which was more classy, wine-in-a-box, or wine-with-a-screw-top. We tasted the wine. It tasted like sour grape juice. At least the wine-in-a-box didn’t taste half-bad to my unrefined palate. If you’re interested, it was Riunite Lambrusco. Maybe you like it, but I didn’t. I did like my blackberry italian cream soda, so that’s good.

  1. Becky Says:

But by far the best part was when the two Newport Beach-type women (read: snobby) said (loud enough for us to hear from the next table over), “I’ve never seen that before, hmmph…interesting.”
Mmm tasted like grape juice. But hey it was really Italian so that lent some credit.
