Didn’t do much today.

This morning I helped Stephen (our system admin) configure a new server with an outside IP. That way we can access a computer that’s on our internal network from off-campus. I added some conduits in the firewall to allow access, I set up reverse address translation so outside computers outside with get the correct machine and I set up forwarding rules in the main router. Fun stuff.

I awoke today to an alarm clock, like I always do.

I worked on my blog a bit today, like I mentioned in the previous post. I’m still working on it. You’ll notice the site, photo of me, and quotes of the day still haven’t been updated. For some reason WordPress always puts descriptions under the link or picture, and I haven’t figured out how to change that.

Worked a bit on a license agreement for the students that use our internet access, so that was boring.

On my way home, I was treated to a cooler-than-normal driving experience. My air conditioning was just blowing room-temperature air for the past six months or, and This past weekend I got it fixed. My car was due for a smog check, so I had the service guys check the air conditioning while they were at it. Well, It works splendidly now.

not a narrative

Hey there!

I’ve done a bit of updating to my site. If you link directly to my blog, you might want to check out my homepage as I’ve changed some stuff.

I’m working on the picture on the top as I’ve been told it’s “scary.” I don’t want to scare “small children” or “be a nuisance” so I’ll try to make somehting that’s “less hard on the eyes”

I’ll talk about my day later.

Started the day by getting up. Novel.

Went to work.

We’ve been having some trouble lately with one of our data T1 circuits (Internet). We’ll get an e-mail from our isp telling us that they noticed one of the two circuits we have from them flapped. They then do some testing and never find anything.

What did I do today?

I’ll tell ya.

Went to work. At work, I was working on some settings on our VPN concentrator. (you might remember some other work I did on it). I was trying to make it so certain users are restricted on our network while others have more access. I got it so the new group is assigned a new IP pool, but not much else. I’m working on it.

Lasagna and web design

If you hadn’t noticed, I’ve got a couple of new things. First, I registered a domain name! Yay! I figure that kurtcooke.co.uk will be a bit easier to remember than 67.122.16.97 but I can’t image why you all have trouble with that.

The second bit of news is that I got some new blogging software! Yay! I was using Greymatter, but upgrated to WordPress. WordPress had a bit of a sleeker interface, but the real reason I upgraded was for rss.

So, onto what I did today.

CIY and beyond

Monday, August 1st, 2005

This one’ll be long. Here goes…

As you should know, I was at CIY all last week. For those of you that are unfamiliar, CIY is an acronym for Christ In Youth, and it is an organization that puts on a summer conference every year for high schoolers. At this conference, The students can worship, listen to some world-class speakers, and participate in a small-group bible study.

Since Becky and I are leaders for our high school group We went with them. The summer conference we attended was in San Luis Obispo and was held at California Polytechnic State University. We stayed in the dormitories, and our main sessions were held in the gymnasium.

Becky and I also led a discipleship group (D-group). We split our youth group up by grades, and Becky and I were leading the eleven juniors.

To make a long story short (too late), we had a fantastic time. If you want to hear all about it, give me a call (If you don’t know my phone number, I’m not sure I want you calling me).

Now I’ll tell you about once I got back…
