Home Security
After Kurt’s car was tampered with by thieves, I started to re-evaluate our home security. I was thinking about “what would happen if..” and I felt that we were missing some key items. As Kurt went off to a church meeting on Thursday, I went on a mission. I went down to the Ace hardware and purchased some fantastic items, which will serve us well. If anything they will just give me peace of mind. I bought a door stopper, fire extinguisher, fire ladder, window locks, and a few other things. Now I feel much better.
Oh and I have made an escape plan for emergencies. If you ever come over I will give you the appropriate training.

Neat, Becky. Definitely the first thing to start with is the low hanging fruit of the actual physical security, proper lighting, removing hiding places along the house, creating a fire escape plan, etc. So you’ve undoubtedly made a great start.
If you ever want to step it up some to a cellular-based (for no cut phone wires) home security and automation platform that is the best value I’ve found out there, I would recommend you check out Frontpoint Security Solutions. They are nation wide. They have the most advanced platform AND the best prices I could find when I was searching about 3 months ago… and now I’ve been with them for about 3 months and couldn’t be happier.
Don’t believe just me though… Google (“frontpoint security” review) [without the parens but with the quotes and word outside of quotes], and you will see all 5 star reviews of them at various review sites on the Internet. These guys really are great.
At the very least, you may want to consider going to eBay and buying some authentic Brinks, ADT, or Protection One window stickers. They can be had for $5 a pop or less, and do provide a significant upgrade in protection (perception). To improve the ruse, find some cheap window magnet door/window sensors to put in the windows to make it look real from the outside (probably find used ones online at eBay too). I wouldn’t buy off-brand security decals for your windows… they are a lot cheaper, but for a reason. Most criminals know the generic looking labels can be easily had at Home Depot and the like.
Anyway, hope this helps. Thanks for the post. I hope you guys don’t have any more trouble. Best to you both!
