MHD Channel

Sunday, April 6th, 2008

Kurt and I have a samsung HD TV and have enjoyed it for a while now. One channel we sometimes look at is the MHD channel. I am not an expert on the matter by any means but it seems that there are only two shows on this channel and Storytellers is one of them. Whatever, anyway, we watched a show with Amy Winehouse the other night. I really am into pop culture. I mean it just happens that I seem to keep up with all that stuff. Well, I just don’t understand the big interest into this one. Amy Winehouse is yucky. We were watching her and as Kurt summed her up best when he said she is “dead behind the eyes.” We really only caught the last 10 minutes of her show.

$2 Bill

Sunday, April 6th, 2008

Kurt got a two dollar bill. How exciting, right? Well, at first I didn’t want to spend it. But when Kurt and I drove through Starbuck’s the other night. We agreed to use it. So when I handed it to the young man at the window I said, “are you ready to have your mind blown?” He laughed and pretended to inspect it like it was counterfeit. Then we all had a laugh.

KOST 103.5: Lovesongs on the KOST

Sunday, April 6th, 2008

I called this radio station and I got through. It only rang once. I spoke to Karen Sharp herself. Full high level of excitement! Oh but one thing, I forgot that requesting a song is the key element to calling a radio station. I blanked out when she asked me “what special song can I play for you tonight?” So I said, “anything by REO Speedwagon.” Where or where did this band title come from?? Do I know them or would I ever request them? No. But I did on Thursday night. I thought it was funny so did Kurt and John. By the way, John was the only person I know to hear it.

Funny thing is, I have an autographed picture of Karen Sharp because we saw her at Disneyland a few years ago. For those who were there and who remember, I flipped out because I got to meet her. I ran up and said hi…there was nobody else around I guess no one was interested in meeting the Karen Sharp. Their loss. Booya suckas.

We are pretty much best friends now.

Home Security

Sunday, April 6th, 2008

After Kurt’s car was tampered with by thieves, I started to re-evaluate our home security. I was thinking about “what would happen if..” and I felt that we were missing some key items. As Kurt went off to a church meeting on Thursday, I went on a mission. I went down to the Ace hardware and purchased some fantastic items, which will serve us well. If anything they will just give me peace of mind. I bought a door stopper, fire extinguisher, fire ladder, window locks, and a few other things. Now I feel much better.

Oh and I have made an escape plan for emergencies. If you ever come over I will give you the appropriate training.

Car Update

Friday, April 4th, 2008

for those of you that didn’t hear, someone broke into my car and stole my stereo. Here are some pictures:

My car before: First thing I saw: Missing something:
Car break in - before Car Break in - first contact Car Break in - radio gone

Now I’ve reverted back to the factory radio. Anyone want to buy a slightly-broken-into Honda Civic? I’m gunna buy a MINI. And we’re going to move. to safetown, ID (for those of you not familiar with safetown, there are no spiders, lizards, hooligans or shouting neighbors. It’s entirely shenanigan-free.)

Netflix FTW

Friday, April 4th, 2008

Not at all recently, the Hollywood Video that Becky and I formerly frequented, closed down. Since then, we’ve gone without movie rentals. No longer! We signed up for Netflix. I looked at both Blockbuster online and Netflix, and through an entirely arbitrary and nonsensical set of trials (including casting lots), we fixed upon Netflix for our mail-dvd provider. It really was a simple decision because we can never do business with Blockbuster again. I’ll just say it involves us renting Tootsie.

Last week we received our first two movie-films: Becoming Jane and La Vie en Rose. We attempted to stagger our returns, so we wouldn’t be forced to wait for our next two movies, but so far we’ve failed. We’ll see how we do with the next batch. We currently have Eastern Promises and This is England.

This weekend my parents drove out in their green (both physically and environmentally) car to spend a weekend with us. On Friday we met them at Downtown Disney, listened to the UC Davis marching (read: dancing) band “perform” outside the Anaheim House of Blues. We ended up eating nearby at Tortilla Jo’s for dinner. We went into the Disneyland park and rode a number of enjoyable attractions, including, but not limited to: The Matterhorn, Big Thunder Mountain, and Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye. We also took the following photograph:

Right before the fireworks spectacular, we left. The next day, we returned to the resort, but started at Disney’s California Adventure. We had a good time, and we successfully convinced my parents to purchase annual passports so we can go whenever they come visit us.

Someone stole my radio

Thursday, April 3rd, 2008

I Went to my car to go to work yesterday morning (2 April 2008) and I noticed that the contents of my glove compartment were on the floor. Then I noticed the passenger side door was unlocked. Then I noticed the gaping hole in my console where my after-market radio used to be.

So I called the police when I got home from work and an officer came by to take my statement. Luckily, I still have the box the radio came in so the officer made a note of the exact model and serial number. Then CSI came and took prints off of the window. It looked to my untrained eyes like they got some good prints.

More info later.
