My grandmother died this weekend. She was a wonderful mother to my mother, and a wonderful grandmother to me and my cousins. I’ll miss her.

Kurt, I’ll miss her too. Your grandma is my Aunt. My mother is Doloros, Shirley’s youngest sister. My mother lives in Illinois but is also in very poor health. I found your site because I was looking for funeral arrangements, etc. I haven’t searched the AZ news yet. We are praying for all those who knew Aunt Shirley and this loss. Love and prayers to you and Becky. (Is your mom Rita?) Aunt Shirley’s niece, Kerry Powell

Just happened to be going thru bookmarks and updating things and thought I would check out what is happening in California. I just wanted to say I am sorry for your loss and we send our love and condolences!! I would agree with Blair, she looks like an awesome person.

Hope everything else is OK. It is fun to periodically read what is going on in your lives. It almost feels like a short visit. Give Becky a hug from Indiana.

Hi again Kurt, I was wondering if you ever heard of any funeral arrangements for Aunt Shirley? I’m sure they must’ve done something, but we were never informed. My mom was very close to Shirley and this is very distressing to her. Could you please help me and let me know if anything happened last week considering her burial? If there is a way to communicate through your blog, please do so. I will check it regularly. I have searched NV news (I mistakenly thought she was in AZ) but I can find no listing of Shirley anywhere. I really am pleading with you if you have any info. It would really help ease my mom’s mind. Thank you so, so much for any help you can give. Again, I am Kerry (Cooper) Powell, Shirley’s niece. Thank you.

Kurt, thank you so much. Thank your mom for us, for calling. My mom was glad to hear from Rita. She is pleased that you all were happy with the armed services ceremony. Thank your mom too for sending my mom the memoirs from the funeral. She is anxiously awaiting them. BTW, I live in PA and my sister lives in IL. We really wanted to attend the services to represent our mom. We weren’t able to find any affordable tickets anyway. Again, we thank you so much for passing along the request to your mom. So sorry to have bothered you via the website. Please feel free to delete any and all of my comments. Kerry Powell

Kurt,
I am a niece of your grandmother, Shirley, also. My name is Sue, my mother is Doloros. Please know we are thinking of you and your family. We were so hoping to get to see Aunt Shirley again, but now I guess we’ll be meeting her in heaven! I am so glad to see the pictures you have posted. Please extend our condolences to your family.
