Movember

November 22nd, 2009 by Kurt

I’ve been taking part in the annual even called Movember. It encourages men to grow mustaches during the month of November and rais money doing so. All the money raised goes to raise awareness for men’s cancers. If you’d like to sponsor me, it’s not too late.

Once the month is over, I’ll put together a video of my growth. One of the neat things that happened this month is that three generations of Cooke’s were photographed with mustaches. Enjoy:

Halloween Stats

Total of 2 door knocks: first one was a solo girl dressed as Michael myers, finally a group of 6-8 kids. We purchased less candy than last year; however, we still have a bunch left over.

Minor Privacy

September 27th, 2009 by Becky

The main topic of this blog of course is our family’s daily adventures. Peter Cooke, being the newest and cutest member of our family, will be the highlight and star of many posts to come. This blog will be archived in our special computer-y archive way (Kurt will handle this) for Peter to read when he is older. I have always been a guarded person in regard to my personal information. I feel that there must be some things that are not common knowledge and are not public in every person’s life. This issue was recently debated and the linked article raises some valid points about a minor’s privacy. Here is the link again because the public comments are insightful. If you have a child or will, I recommend you read it. http://parenting.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/08/31/protecting-your-childs-privacy/

How long has it been?

September 25th, 2009 by Kurt

It’s been a while. It looks like the last time I posted was December of last year.

Well, I think that writing these posts will be good, not only as an exercise to keep my literary muscles toned, but also for posterity.

So here goes:

August Already?!

August 16th, 2009 by Becky

Since our last post we became true parents. We accomplished the first month of normal parenting; we endured sleepless nights, fed Peter, burped Peter, changed several diapers, washed many  loads of laundry, bathed Peter, and so forth. We also overcame major “new parent” hurdles like – Solo mission to the doctor, solo mission to the mall, how to take a shower everyday when solo parenting, how to tag team a really gross diaper change, how to tag team a really awful sleepless night, and so forth.

The New Cooke Family

Peter has come home

July 12th, 2009 by Kurt

As some of you may already be aware, Our son Peter Maxwell Cooke, was born this past Tuesday, 7 July at 12:18pm. He was in the hospital for a few days because of the kidney problems we had mentioned to you all previously. However, yesterday he was released from the hospital and our whole family was able to be together at home for the first time.

We’re still shifting through the mountains of pictures, but we’ll post them to our Flickr page once they’re ready. Thanks to all the calls and direct messages with well-wishes we’ve received, and we’re looking forward to everyone eventually meeting Peter once we get settled as a new family of three.

If anyone wants to see him sooner, we might be able to do a skpye video call. our contact (and email address) is: kurtcooke (at) gmail (dot) com

Almost 37 Weeks Pregnant

June 26th, 2009 by Becky

Today was my last day at work and what a strange and exciting feeling. It feels like I am going on vacation but yet it also feels like I quit. Vacation: because I will be back. Quit: because I left everything with my co-workers. It was an interesting day too. I went into work and then to the doctor and then back to work.

At the doctor I had the best encounter in the waiting room. It MADE my week! I bumped into a good friend and we chatted for a while.

According to my medical professional/doctor, I am ready to have this baby. I am super excited about that too!
